AIIMS stands for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, one of the best medical schools in India. AIIMS was started in 1952 and has grown to become one of the best medical schools, whose degrees are recognized not only in India but in the rest of the world as well. The quality of education in AIIMS is no doubt one of the best in the Indian subcontinent and to continue providing high quality, AIIMS does not compromise on the quality of its students.
MBBS candidates have to have passed the 12th class with an aggregate of at least 60% considering the many medical schools take students who have passed with 50% aggregate you can bet that AIIMS does not compromise on the quality of its students. Candidates who want to become part of AIIMS must be at least 17 years of age and be able to prove his age as well. The AIIMS entrance exam is relatively challenging, with 200 multiple questions that test the reasoning ability of the candidates among other things. There are several subjects that will be taken care of in this examination like physics, chemistry and mathematics. It is expected that the AIIMS entrance exam of 2011 will start in the first week of June 2011. The course will commence on 1st August 2011 and the application forms have already been made available.
Aspiring candidate must have passed well in physics chemistry, biology and English, with at least 60% in each one of these subjects. Those who belong to special interest groups like scheduled castes and tribes do not need to have a 60% pass, but a 50% pass in all the subjects indicated above. With regard to attaining the age of 17, aspiring candidates should have attained this age by the end of 2011. This means that applicants who are 16 years of age can apply, but they have to have attained the age of 17 by 31st December 2011 otherwise they will not be accepted.
Applications will be allowed online but those who do not have access to the internet can make their applications offline. Online applications can be made on the official AIIMS exams website. Applications will be allowed after the payment of an application fees by credit card or cash. It is expected that the applicants will incur the costs of any transitions, so they need to be aware of that. Offline application forms have already been made available. Normally they are obtained by post by those who send a written request and a demand draft of Rs. 1050 which is payable at New Delhi. The demand draft is supposed to reach the AIIMS administration before the deadline of issuing application forms otherwise it will not be acceptable. Any delay or non receipt of request will not be the responsibility of the AIIMS administration. Applicants are advised to carefully follow all the requirements of the application and put the words “request for application form for MBBS entrance examination 2011” on their request letter. They are supposed to include a forwarding address on their application. Any request without a forwarding address will not be accepted. Deadlines are very strict and applicants are supposed to keep this in mind especially when they are making applications by post. Any application that is not with the AIIMS before the deadline will not be accepted even if the date of application is different. Keep in mind the distance and the time the letter will reach the AIIMS administration before sending it. Those who will make payments using Challan form must submit the original counterfoil along with the original application form otherwise it will not be considered.
