AMU Law Entrance Exam
Established in 1857 as Mohammedan Anglo Oriental College during the British Raj, it was later granted the status of the Aligarh Muslim University or AMU in 1920 and is one of the oldest and most reputed educational institutes of India. This university offers 250 courses and candidates from all over India as well as foreign students can apply for admission in this exalted institute. AMU B.A. LLB Law Entrance Exam
The AMU offers a five year integrated undergraduate B.A LLB course. Of the total number of candidates selected, 03% seats are fixed for the physically challenged. NRIs or Non Resident Indians can also apply. The minimum requirement by this university for the B.A LLB course is 50% marks in the senior secondary or any equivalent exam. The age of the candidate should not exceed 22 years.
The entrance test is two hours long and the candidate is judged on his/her knowledge of current affairs, general awareness, aptitude and decision making and reasoning skills. The paper carries total 100 marks out of which, the multiple choice questions are of 75 marks (there are 75 questions each question is of one mark) and the ten short answer questions are of 25 questions. The test consists of multiple choice questions and short answer question based on.

- Reasoning and Aptitude
- Current Affairs/General knowledge (with emphasis on legal issues)
Students are selected according to the marks obtained in the entrance test. The students can prepare for the entrance test by solving questions from model test papers of previous years which are easily available in the market and can also be downloaded from the web.
AMU LLM Law Entrance Exam
The Aligarh Muslim University also offers LLM; the post graduate course in law. In order to apply for this course the candidate should be above 22 years of age and should be a B.A L.LB graduate with at least 55% marks or must have an equivalent degree from the university. Those students who are in the final year of the B.A LLB course can also apply for admission. The post graduate course is spread over two years and is divided into four semesters. Around hundred seats are offered for the post graduate course.
The AMU Law Entrance Exam for the LLM course is of hundred marks and is two hours long. A majority of questions in the test papers are objectives and the rest are short answer questions. The entrance test is based on the entire LLB course and tests the candidates’ knowledge in various fields of law. Some fields where candidates are tested are:
- Legal Theory
- Criminal Law
- Constitutional Law
- Law of Torts
- Law of Contracts
Getting admission in this prestigious university is no child’s play and the candidates seeking admission should start preparing months before the entrance test. The aspiring students can either join a coaching centre for preparation (a list of recommended coaching centers is available on the internet) or can prepare by themselves by downloading the syllabus and question papers of previous tests from the internet.
