Birla Institute of Technology & Science

The Birla Institute of Technology & Science is one the best institutions of higher leaning in India, known for its insistence on high quality. This intuition has several campuses which offer some of the highly in demand technical courses in India.  For choosing some of its best candidates, this institution has established the BITSAT, its entrance exam which is computer based. Candidates must have passed well to sit this exam and have an aggregate of 80% in physics, chemistry and mathematics. English is also a must and a pass of at least 60% is expected. With many entrance exams needing a pass of at least 50%, one can see why this is a high standard institutions of higher learning.

The examination pattern of BITSAT is simple, with four main parts. The first two parts are physics and chemistry papers, both of which have 40 questions. The third part deals with English and logical reading which will put to the test the English knowledge of the applicant.  Logical reasoning is a must as well, since you will need to apply this in your learning. The English proficiency part has 15 questions, while the logical reasoning part has 10 questions. The fourth part of this exam is the mathematical paper, which has a total of 45 questions.

Candidates who have passed in the most recent 12th class exam will be allowed to sit the BITSAT examination. This means that those who want to sit the BITSAT 2011 exam are only those who have sat and passed their respective 2010 examinations. Those who have repeated classes and passed in their 12th class will be admitted on the merit of the most recent examination, provided it is the 2010 final 12th class examination.  The 12th class final examination has to be administered by a body that is recognized by BITSAT.

The BITSAT is computer based and will be done in specific centers all over India. This means that there will not be a paper examination, but the candidates will work in front of a computer, answering all the questions of the examination. Candidates who will answer all the 150 questions before time will be given the option of answering 12 extra questions, and once this option is chosen the candidate cannot go back and change the answers on the first 150 questions. No extra time will be allowed for the extra 12 questions, so one has to decide very carefully. Candidates will be provided with sheets for their rough work but are not allowed any other assistance in the examination room in the form of calculators or mobile phones.

The results of the BITSAT examination are announced immediately, and one can make confirmations in the website immediately. Candidates have only one chance of writing this examination in a given year, so one has to be very cautious when working on it. The BITSAT 2011 will be held on 10th to 11th May. The deadline for the application ended on 31st January 2011. Payment of the requisite application fees is through debit card and credit card or net banking depending on which option works for the applicant the best. No one is allowed to make an application twice and no other application will be received after the deadline. Those who want to sit the BITSAT will have to do so in 2012. In the case where a mistake has been made in the first application, a second application can be sent but one has to indicate in it that the first application must be cancelled. Applications that are not well filled or are not accompanied by the application fee payment or are received late will not be considered and the BITSAT will not be held liable.
