CETK

This is the common entrance exam for the institutions of higher learning in the state of Karnataka. Applicants who want to pursue medical and engineering courses are supposed to sit this examination. This is the common requirement of most universities in this state.
Candidates sitting the CETK will tackle multiple choice questions in physics, chemistry and biology depending on the courses they want to pursue at the university. Those who want to study architecture must sit the NATA, the national aptitude test in architecture. They must have scored 50% in their final exam which has been reduced to 45% for those in special castes. Medical and dental course applicants must have passed in English, physics, chemistry and biology with an aggregate grade of 50%. This passing grade has been minimized for those belonging to special interest groups like the scheduled castes and tribes as well as the physically challenged. This means that their passing percentage is 40%. Engineering candidates need a pass in physics and mathematics, with a 45% aggregate. This has been reduced to 40% for those in scheduled castes and tribes. Students who are yet to sit their final exam in high school can sit this examination but admission will be put on hold and will depend on their passing of their high school examination.
Candidates who are eligible must have passed well in government institutions in the state of Karnataka. Incase the institution is not governmental; it needs to be one that is recognized by the government. Priorities are given to those who are natives of Karnataka. Those who are natives of Karnataka but who are not resident in Karnataka are allowed to sit the examination upon proof of their domicile.
