Faculty of Management Studies Exam
This is an examination for entry into the University of Delhi and it is conducted by the faculty of management studies to decide on the applicants who want to study in this institution. The FMS examination is written and eligible candidates who pass this part will be interviewed to determine their eligibility to study in this university.
There are several parts in this examination; the first one will test your quantitative ability. Generally speaking, you have to have some mathematical skills when carrying out this part of the examination. It lasts two hours and will test your knowledge of simple financial mathematics and some logical reasoning as well. The verbal ability part of the exam tests your ability to read English while English comprehension tests your ability to understand English and both sections last two hours. Most business schools desire people with the ability to reason logically. You need to have some analytical ability to handle this part of the examination which also lasts two hours. All the sections of the examination have multiple choice type questions.
The postgraduate management courses in the University of Delhi do not have any specific criterion. All you need is a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% aggregate score. It is one of the eligibility conditions to sit this examination, which will prove to the FMS board that you are good enough for postgraduate training. Those who have not yet finished their bachelor’s degree can apply too, but they have to be in their final year of study and prove using provisional transcripts that they have maintained a grade point average of 60%. It is also expected of them to finish their examinations soon enough, before admission into the school of business.
FMS is sat by 70 unreserved candidates and a reservation is made for 18 people. Reserved seats depend on the discretion of the university. Special groups, the scheduled castes and tribes have a reserved space too, with about 27 reservations made for them. Special reservations are also made for the physically disadvantaged and with them too, a relaxation of 5% in the minimum grade is made.
Candidates who want to pursue MBA fulltime studies must have a relevant undergraduate course. As for the part-time, MBA applicants must have passed in their undergraduate courses in institutions that are recognized by the University of Delhi and must have at least 45% score. Doctoral courses in management are also offered by the University of Delhi and one of the conditions to fulfill is working experience in the field of management.
Foreign students who want to apply can make their applications by post or online in the university of Delhi official website. Foreigners in Indian universities can apply but will have to sit the FMS examinations as well. Those who have degrees from Indian universities but are living abroad have to sit the GMAT examination and present their scores, which are supposed to be more than 650. TOEFL examination is also important for those who want to apply to this institution. Applicants are advised to register themselves at the www.fms.edu website and pay the required fees depending on the course one is required to pursue. Payment methods have been made flexible for those with no credit card or debit cards. Candidates have the freedom to register for more than one program at once, so this means one can fill several forms. Forms that will not be well filled or submitted in time will never be allowed. Any postal delay will not be entertained and the university will not be held liable for it. Any disputes will be solved accordingly.
