IBS Aptitude Test

The ICFAI Business Studies Aptitude Test (IBSAT) test is the admission criteria test for admission into business schools that are sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI). Anyone who wants to gain admission into any of the institutions that have been sponsored by ICFAI must pass the examination. The institutions that are sponsored by ICFAI include ICFAI National College (INC), ICFAI School of Human Resource Development (ISHRD) and the ICFAI Business School (IBS).

As for the eligibility into any of these business schools, one needs to have at least a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate. Some of the participating institutions will allow participants who are in their final year of working on their bachelor’s degree but they have to show an aptitude for learning. This means that they will be allowed if their transcripts show a passing grade of at least 60%. The participant also has to submit his degree certificate within a period of time before admission into the participating institutions. These terms are relative and will vary from one institution to the other. The bachelors degree has to be the specified ones and not just any other bachelor’s degree, most universities will prefer management and business oriented bachelors degrees. Any other application criteria into a university will also depend on the respective university. Most of the ICFAI institutions will admit students who have not completed their bachelor’s degrees so long as they will be completing their examination in the course of the IBSAT examination and prove that they have finished by producing a degree certificate to that effect.

This examination consists of an essay of about 400 words on any given topic. This will test the applicant’s knowledge of the English language and his basic level of communication. The multiple choice exam then follows, whose aim is to make sure the applicant’s ability in quantitative analysis is top notch. The candidate will also be tested in data interpretation, vocabulary and analytical reasoning. This paper will represent 25% of the total admission criteria.

The selected candidates will then be shortlisted for group discussion and personal interviews and after this part the final selection is made. The IBSAT makes up 25% of the eligibility criteria while the past academic record, micro presentation and the interview each contributes 20%. The general essay and the general knowledge test contribute 5% and 10% respectively.

IBSAT does not have a fixed pattern in which its sets its examinations and any clue as to such will be gotten from the previous exams that have been done. If you are interested in getting admissions into any of the IBS campuses, you can get a form from any of the participating campuses and make payment as has been instructed. Online applications will mean that you have to make online payments through credit card.  You can download the application forms from the websites of the campuses that are participating or the official IBSAT websites and fulfill the set requirements of the forms as soon as possible.

The IBSAT tests start at the end of April 2011, so all those applicants who are yet to complete their respective bachelors degrees need to have finished with their exams and gotten their bachelor’s degree certificates before that date otherwise the applications will not be considered valid. The last date for the receipt of the applications is at the end of the third week of April 2011; no other application will be allowed past that date. Interviews will be done in the mid of May 2011. Any other admission requirements will depend on the institution that has been applied to.
