The IIFT is The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade Entrance Exam to one of the best business schools in India. This is a highly rated examination that was set up by the Indian government in 1963 in search of professionalism in business. All candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in relevant disciplines. For a person to study for an MBA, one can have any degree from any university, so long as it is recognized by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. Having a business undergraduate degree is an added advantage. The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade entrance examination has multiple choices, which will test your ability to write and read English. General knowledge and current affairs are expected to be examined and so are quantitative skills and logical reasoning.
Admission is made on according to how well the candidate has passed this exam. Usually, the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade will place a limit score on those who want to pursue several courses. Major cities have centers where this exam will be sat, and you should expect to have at least two centers in metro cities. Depending on the score of the candidate, he will be called for the interview, which is normally held at the end of January to mid February in major centers like Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.
Foreigners who want to sit this examination have to sit the GMAT examination as well. The IIFT exam is held in November each year and the dates will have been announced before the day of examination. There are plenty of hostel facilities for applicants at the Delhi and Kolkata IIFT centers. Applications can be made online for its speed and ease of submission at the www.iift.edu. Application forms for the IIFT examination can also be gotten from all IIFT centers. The application forms cost Rs.1500 for Indian nationals and double the amount for foreign nationals. This means you have to prove your nationality before getting the application form. Candidates have to carry with them the necessary certificates or academic qualification to get the forms
For those who are not able to get the application forms in person, you can send a request and a demand draft alongside the payment of Rs.1500. using the methods of payment provided. A fee of Rs. 3000 will be paid by foreign nationals who want to apply to IIFT. Foreign nationals need to enclose their GMAT scores alongside their applications. After sitting the exam the shortlisted candidates will be recalled for group discussion and personal interviews, which will lead to further reduction of the number of applicants. Any foreign national applying needs to sit for the GMAT test. His GMAT results should not to be more than 2 years old. Applications need to be sent in time since IIFT will not be responsible for any submissions that come in later than the due date. Those who request for information through post need to keep in mind the length of time letters take to reach the institution. Any request for information that does not enclose the demand draft, the necessary academic document as well as self-addressed adhesive labels will not be accepted.
