Kerala Law Entrance Exam

KLEE is the abbreviation for the Kerala Law Entrance Exam which is conducted by the CEE (Commissioner of Entrance Exam) for the admission to under graduate and post graduate courses in law. The candidates who clear the KLEE are eligible for admission to excellent universities such as Government Law College Thrissur, Government Law College Kozhikode, Government Law College Thiruvananthapuram, and Government Law College Ernakulam. These reputed universities offer five year L.LB program, three year L.LB course and a two year L.LM program.

Eligibility for KLEE

The candidates applying for the five year undergraduate L.LB course should have cleared the 10+2 exam from the Board of Higher Education Kerala or any other board recognized by the Kerala Board or the BCI (Bar Council of India). The least marks required for admission to undergraduate law courses are 40% while the candidates from scheduled castes and scheduled tribes can apply with 35% marks. The candidate should be a citizen of India and must be born in Kerala. The minimum age of the candidates should be 17 years.

For the three year L.LB course the candidate must hold a graduation degree from the University of Kerala or any other university recognized by the universities of Kerala. Only Kerala born natives of India can apply for admission. The minimum marks required for admission are 40%; the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes are allowed a 5% relaxation. No upper age limit is fixed for candidates applying for this program.

The Master’s degree course offered by the universities is two year long and only Indian citizens born in Kerala who have cleared the five year under graduate course or the three year L.LB course can apply for admission to this course. Candidates awaiting results of the L.LB programs or appearing in the final year exams are also eligible to apply. There is no upper age limit for this course.

Exam Pattern

KLEE is a competitive exam and is deigned to judge the knowledge and intelligence of the candidates. The exam pattern for L.LB and L.LM courses is different. For the five year BA.L.LB course and the three year L.LB course the exam paper consists of three parts. There are a total of 200 questions and the candidates are given three hours to answer the questions. The questions are Multiple Choice Questions and the candidates need to pick the correct answer from four options. The paper pattern is as follows

Each correct answer fetches three marks and one mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. Candidates are therefore advised not to attempt any question they are not sure of. Any MCQ having more than one answer will be considered wrong and marks will be deducted. No marks will be deducted if the question is not attempted.

Paper Pattern for L.LM

The KLEE for L.LM comprises of two test papers. Each test paper carries 100 marks and the candidates are given 90 minutes to solve each paper. Both papers are based on L.LB standard. In the first paper, the candidates will be asked 25 questions each from the following law subjects
