KIIT Law School

KLSAT is the exam for an entrance conducted by the KIIT Law School for admission to its undergraduate courses in law. KIIT is situated within the reputed KIIT University in the serene surroundings of Bhubaneswar, Orissa. The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) was established in 1992 and in the short span of 19 years it has established itself as a leading educational institute of India. The KIIT University offers under graduate and post graduate course in various fields of science and arts.

About KIIT

KIIT was established in 2007 and is slowly rising as an institute par excellence. Equipped with the modern tools of teaching and the best faculty, it is the first institute in India to offer five years integrated undergraduate courses B.A LLB, B.Sc LLB and B.B.A LL.B (Hons). KIIT Law School enjoys the status of being India’s first law school to implement the curricula approved by the Bar Council of India and designed by distinguished law professors. The KIIT Law School also enjoys the distinction of being a member of Asia – Pacific Association of Law Schools Australia and the International Association of Law Schools, Washington, U.S.A. The five year law course will be completed in 10 semesters covering six papers in each semester. The course studied in the KIIT Law School is an amalgamation of legal knowledge with papers in management, natural sciences and liberal arts. After five semesters the students can select from Business Law, Constitutional law, International Trade law, Crime and Criminology, Intellectual Property Rights, Human Rights, International Law, Law and Agriculture and Taxation Law as specialization subjects. KIIT Law School is in the process of adding other subjects related to law in its curriculum which is not offered in any law school in India. Students can also gain first hand knowledge from the various seminars held throughout the year and the lectures delivered by legal luminaries from all over the world.

About KLSAT

The KLSAT is a common All India entrance test held in sixty one cities across India usually in the month of April/May. Students from all over the country can apply free of cost. Students who have passed 10+2 or any other equivalent exam with at least 50% marks can apply for B.A LLB and BBA LLB. Those students who are applying for B.Sc LLB should have cleared 10+2 with science subjects or any other exam equivalent to 10+2 science by scoring 55% marks. Students appearing in the class 12 exams in the current year are also eligible to apply. The age of the candidates must not be above 21 years. Students who do not meet the above conditions are not eligible to apply as KLSAT is a highly competitive exam.  

The duration of this admission test is two hours and comprises of multiple choice question and short answer type questions. These questions test the language skills, numerical and mathematical ability, legal acumen, logistic and analytical reasoning and general knowledge of the students.  The multiple choice questions carry 70% marks while the short answer questions carry 30% marks. The student are required to answer 30 questions each on Mathematical ability and Analytical and Logical ability, 20 questions on General Knowledge and 40 questions on verbal ability. The student is awarded 4 points for each correct answer while one mark is deducted for a wrong answer; no answer from the student gets a zero. Because of negative marking scheme, the students are advised not to attempt any question if they are not sure about the answer. Also minus one is given to those students who mark more than one answer for a question.
