Law School Admission Test

The Law School Admission Test or the LSAT is an entrance exam especially designed for India by the LSAC (Law School Admission Council). This test is based on international standards and judges the critical thinking skills of the candidates. The test is held simultaneously in 16 different cities in India. The successful candidates can apply for admission to reputed law institutes in India.

The law institutes offer 5 year integrated B.A L.LB and/or a three year Bachelor of Law (L.LB). Some of the institutes offer two year Masters of Law (L.LM) courses as well. Most of the law institutes require 50% marks in the 10+2 format of exam for the five year under graduate courses. For the three year course, the applicant should be a graduate with at least 50% marks.

The Law School Admission Test in India is conducted by the Pearson VUE. It is British based company which conducts computer based testing. Pearson VUE has the largest and the most comprehensive network of testing facilities.

The candidates can register for the LSAT online. As the LSAT score is accepted by many law institutes, the applicant should visit the website of the institute to gather information regarding admission. The fee for LSAT is also payable online. As all the correspondence including admit card will take place through e mail, the applicant should be very careful in giving the e mail address.

Paper Pattern for the LSAT

The LSAT India test is divided into four parts; two sections quiz the candidates on logical reasoning, one section is based on analytical reasoning and the last section consists of reading comprehension. The questions are all multiple choice questions and some of them come with four options and some with five options. The test lasts for 2 hours and 35 minutes with 35 minutes allotted to each section. There is a break of 15 minutes between sections two and three.

Preparing for LSAT

LSAT can only be attempted once and therefore you need to pass this test with flying colors. Owing to the growing popularity of the LSAT, the number of students has increased and now candidates face a tough competition. You can join a coaching center to prepare for the test but make sure that the center has qualified teachers and the correct material to help you prepare for the test. The candidates can also prepare for the Law School Admission Test from “The Official LSAT Handbook”; it is published by the LASC (Law School Admission Council) and provides useful guidance to the candidates.
