Maharastra CET

This is the eligibility test for all health sciences, pharmacy and engineering courses in Maharashtra. The MHT-CET (Maharashtra –Common Entrance Test) is the entry level exam conducted for admission into all universities and colleges that offer undergraduate engineering courses in Maharashtra. This is inclusive of private universities and for anyone who wants to study engineering in Maharashtra it is the most important test that will determine qualification. High school graduates aspiring to pursue engineering courses will be gearing for this exam this year. The competition for engineering degree courses in India is stiff and even stiffer in Maharashtra even as there seems to be more than enough seats for every applicant.

The competition for engineering courses in Maharashtra has risen in the last few years, and so has the standard for the examination. A lot is expected of the candidates as the competition is not showing any signs of coming down. This is one of the highest standard examinations in India and is considered one of the most respected of its kind in India. For this reason, institutions of engineering in Maharashtra see it as one of the best examinations for the selection of its candidates. Institutions that are not subject to this examination are losing out on some of the best engineering brains in India. The exam is set with multiple choices and the candidate will be expected to choose the right answer from a choice of four.

The Maharashtra –Common Entrance Test is held once in a year and applicants can send applications by post or online. Post applications require the applicant to put his application number at the top right hand corner of the application. Filling the application forms need to be done accordingly and any detail that will not be provided will cause the application to be cancelled. For anything that you are not sure of, you are advised to seek clarification as soon as possible. Online application forms can be downloaded from the respective sites of the participation institutions and should be filled and sent as has been instructed. Priority is given to students in Maharashtra although even those who are outside Maharashtra can participate in the examination. Students outside Maharashtra can get admission in to private unaided colleges only.

Applicants sitting for this examination have to have passed English, physics, chemistry and mathematics with at least 50% in aggregate. Anything less than 50% will not be allowed not unless the candidate is a special needs candidate. The examination consists of two papers, the physics and chemistry exam and the mathematics exam. Each of the papers is one and a half hours. Multiple choice answers will have an option of four possible answers. The application forms for this examination are also made available at the schools and colleges that the students have studied. There will be a common form for engineering health science and pharmacy courses and all need to be filled accordingly otherwise they will be neglected. Application forms need to be filled and submitted to the schools before the last date.

The forms for the Maharashtra common entrance test have already been made available in schools all over Maharashtra as well as the participating institutions. As at the end of March 31, 2011 no more submission of application forms will be allowed as the forms have already been made available for the four weeks of March 2011. The test will be done in the first week of May 2011 and after one and a half months the results will be declared in mid June 2011. However, these dates are not absolute and are subject to change depending on the circumstances.
