Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test
This is an exam conducted for the admission into business programs of participating universities in Tamil Nadu. It is conducted by Anna University for admissions into business programs in different Anna University campuses like Anna University Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Arts and Science Colleges and standalone institutions among others. Many institutions consider TANCET an exam that is well capable of selecting students for their business programs. This exam is not limited to Tamil Nadu natives. It is the most popular exam for anyone who wants to pursue business courses in Tamil Nadu and is eligible for a graduate in any discipline; who can prove this by relevant certificates.
For admission into the MBA program through the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test, one needs to have at least a pass in any bachelor’s degree. Anyone who is in the last year of study for a bachelor’s degree will be accepted on the grounds that he has a passing grade of at least 60%. This is not an absolute condition, so any interested applicant will be subject to the rules and regulations of the university he is applying to. Proof of being part of a bachelor’s degree program must be given to be allowed to sit for this common entry exam. For some universities, one will be required to submit the degree certificate within a specific time of his admission to the institution. As for MCA, one needs a pass with a minimum of three years duration in any discipline with core mathematics. The MBA test last for two hours and has five sections. The first section will evaluate the candidate’s ability to analyze data and apply it to a similar situation. This will test his logic and most of all his business acumen. The second part of the exam will test the good judgment of the applicant with questions that will evaluate his skill in comprehension. Mathematical skills will be tested in the third part of the exam. As for the fourth part, this will test the data sufficiency for answering questions. The candidate’s English writing and grammar will be tested in the final section of the paper. The MCA exam has only one section but lasts two hours just as the MBA exam. It will test the quantitative ability, analytical reasoning and logical reasoning of the candidate. Computer knowledge will be indispensable for any candidate writing this exam. The MCA exam may also test the verbal skills of the applicant. All the papers consist of 100 questions and multiple choices which will require the shading of the right answer.

The date for the entrance examination has already been set at the last week of May 2011 and the application forms will be made available up to the last week of March 2011. As for the application forms, you have until the end of April 2011 to submit them, otherwise they will not be considered past that date.
