Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam

UPSEE stands for the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination for entrance into the institutions affiliated to the Uttar Pradesh technical university among others in the state of Uttar Pradesh. This is an examination conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Technical University and is eligible for anyone who seeks admission to professional degree and other courses in government and private universities in Uttar Pradesh. There is no age limit for sitting the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination. This is one of the most unique examinations in India, since it is one of the few that do not have age limits and is therefore very attractive to the many candidates who are past the age limits for the many common entrance examinations in India.

Candidates wishing to pursue technical courses must have passed in sciences and mathematics, with the main science subjects being chemistry, physics, and biotechnology and computer sciences. Biology is an optional subject although it is just as much important for those whose subject combinations include it. For those who want to pursue marine engineering, the minimum passing grade is 60% in physics, chemistry and mathematics as well as 50% in English, which is the medium of communication in all the professional courses. A medical fitness certificate is needed alongside the proof of passing the examination with the 50% aggregate marks required. The medical fitness certificate needs to be approved by the director general of shipping according to the merchant shipping rules.

A pharmacy undergraduate course needs a pass in mathematics, biotechnology, computer science and the optional subject being biology. Again this may not be important for those whose combinations do not require biology but it is to those who need it to get a passing grade. As for those who want to pursue architecture courses, mathematics has to be the main subject plus a 50% average score in the science subjects of physics and chemistry. For those who hold a diploma with a minimum of 50% they are eligible to sit for the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination. The subject that is core for those who want to pursue a technical course in agriculture is agriculture.

The main subject for the aspirants who want to pursue MBA/MCA courses is mathematics. Diploma holders who have passed their diplomas from an institution recognized by the Uttar Pradesh Technical University qualify for entry into its affiliated colleges in the third semester of the second year. The applicants’ parents have to be domiciled in Uttar Pradesh State and the applicants must have passed with a minimum of 60%. They can be admitted in any branch of engineering except agriculture engineering, pharmacy or architecture. Those who have passed a diploma and have a minimum of 60% can join second year of an undergraduate course in agriculture.

Candidates who want to enter the second year of marine engineering must have passed from colleges that are approved and recognized by the state board of technical education. They must have obtained a minimum of 50% in English and need to submit a medical fitness certificate and must be 22 years of age at most. They need to have an aggregate mark of 55% in their final year to be considered for application. The examination has 12 papers, with each candidate fitting himself into the program as his course demands. The first three papers are physics and chemistry, mathematics and biology papers. The physics and chemistry papers have 150 questions and have 600 marks. The mathematics and biology papers each have 75 questions and 300 marks. The Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination 2011 exams are set for the last week of April.
